Born and raised in Thailand, I am sure we all have heard of racism in America through films and stories from our exchange-student friends and cousins but not so much on police brutality. But this one is different. Maybe because of all the violence that really got our attention. Maybe because we are tired of all the news about Covid-19 and sick of knowing all these years of hard work in school are fruitless because a global pandemic dried up all the jobs. Or maybe because I'm extra sensitive being full Chinese currently living in a White country during a pandemic that originated in China and who felt a bit insecure and unsafe to go grocery shopping after getting questioned for wearing a mask in public transport. But when you look at that clip, it's like.. there is no excuse for what happened. That was murder, period. Yet the police got charged of a third-degree murder, or a "oopsie murder", which is not good enough when what happened to George Floyd was literally a public execution. And for what? For using a 20-dollar counterfeit banknote. Pinned down to the ground, saying he can't breathe, calling for his deceased mother while the blood flow was cut off to his brain in broad daylight with other police officers just standing there looking. What is worse is when these protests are going on, you still see excessive force by the officers on civilians who were there for a peaceful protest. This is all while Mr President of the Free World decides you know what you weak state governors, I'm going to "dominate" the streets and shoot them all. Journalists? Punch. Peaceful protestors? Teargas. Black couple in the car on the way home from the protest? Taser gun. Make too much noise? Drive a car into them. And this is just the ones that are recorded on film, imagine how many incidents that happened unrecorded? It's true that racism isn't getting worse, it's getting filmed.

Coincidentally stumbled upon this cute donut place near to my house! Cant believe I've never heard about this place before. It has such an interesting story with the 18-year-old Morgan as the founder who started it all. Such a cozy, friendly place to be on a sunny day like today 🍩
